Jumping in to simply broaden the discussion, not to dismiss your point of view, but do you mind clarifying what you mean when you say we're capitalizing on the general public's naivety? It’s just not how it’s done and you sound like someone that speaks with authority on things you have no idea about, assuming things are done in the way you’d like to believe it should be. That would also leave a mark for a couple of years in the shape of the lines they made. ![]() As I said, some may go ahead and do what you’ve described, but the vast majority are not going to waste the time and equipment to do a ‘test run’ without ink. At best, you may find a tattoo artist who will suggests a different area to put a tattoo if they know you’re worried about how much it will hurt. And most of the time it’s not as bad as people had made it out in their heads. Only those who haven’t been tattooed worry about the pain, but when they make the choice to get tattooed, they will experience it. People have been getting tattooed for centuries, everyone knows they can take it. Tattoo artist’s job is not to help someone figure out if they want a tattoo or not or if they can handle the pain. And it’s not a question of whether or not the shop is reputable or not. Maybe a tattoo artist here or there would do this, but saying “most” will is just not true. ![]()
